frieze london 2018: david shrigley
4 October 2018Stephen Friedman Gallery is pleased to announce a solo presentation of new and recent work by British artist David Shrigley at Frieze London 2018. The artist is best known for his satirical and deadpan works that explore the absurdities of everyday life.
Presented as a shopfront, the site-specific installation will feature four elements: a new series of large-scale neons, a major two-screen digital animation, a new sound-based installation and a new body of works on paper.
frieze masters 2018: beyond the plane
4 October 2018Stephen Friedman Gallery presents ‘Beyond the Plane', a curated exhibition of six international artists shown together for the first time: Alberto Burri, Sergio Camargo, Noemí Escandell, Ben Nicholson, Suzanne Blank Redstone and Loló Soldevilla. Working in Europe, North and South America, these artists engage with the picture plane to explore questions of perception, space and form. While some of them interrogate the illusionistic space of the two-dimensional, others refute the representational qualities of the picture plane altogether by highlighting its material presence.

14 June 2018For Art Basel 2018 Stephen Friedman Gallery will present a specially curated stand that explores figuration. This will include work by Mamma Andersson, Lisa Brice, Andreas Eriksson, David Shrigley, Jiro Takamatsu, Kehinde Wiley, amongst others. Part of the stand will be dedicated to a special presentation of majestic sculptures by Yinka Shonibare MBE that examine classical antiquities. Each featured artist brings a unique perspective to figuration, resonant with the ongoing interest in the human form.
