david shrigley in the film sector at art basel miami beach

3 December 2014
Two film works by David Shrigley will be included in the Short Film Program at this year's Art Basel Miami Beach. Selected by David Gryn, Director of Artprojx, London, the Film sector includes over 80 works by some of today's most exciting artists from Latin America, the United States, Europe, Asia and beyond.

Film presents works in both the outdoor setting of New World Center's SoundScape Park and on six touch-screen monitors within the newly designed Film Library at Art Basel's show. The Short Film Program titled 'The Magic of Things' is inspired by Mark Wallinger's The Magic of Things (2010), a video of edited scenes from the popular 1970s TV sitcom Bewitched, in which everyday objects such as knives or glasses are magically moved by the good witch Samantha. All films here take a similarly playful approach and are interpolated by hand-drawn animations from the Japanese artist Atsushi Kaga.

David Shrigley video works titled ‘Ones' (2009) and 'The Artist' (2012) will be in the Film sector at Art Basel Miami Beach from 9pm on Saturday 6 December 2014.
