Work by American artist Anne Truitt (1921-2004) features in this group exhibition at Troedsson Villa in Nikko, Japan. Currently a private residence, this spring the house will be open to the public on the weekends. During this time it will serve as the site of an exhibition of works by contemporary artists from the US, Europe and Japan, organised by Anne Eastman and Tam Ochiai. The LA-based artist Amy Yao will also curate a concurrent group show in the kitchen of the house, which will serve as a project space.
Troedsson Villa is a small wooden house situated on the grounds of a former temple within the UNESCO World Heritage site of Nikko, Japan, which is home to the famous Toshogu Shrine, Rinnoji Temple, Futarasan Shrine, Tayuin Temple, as well as numerous other sites of spiritual significance dating back to 700 AD.
The exhibition runs from 28 March until 10 May 2015.
