Collection IX will constitute the first ARCO Collection show to be held at CA2M and will present a journey through the most significant pieces. Through these works, it will be possible to revisit the foundations that sustain a large part of contemporary art, while also detecting some of the subsequent developments. The itinerary of the main exhibition will begin in the decades of 1960 and 1970, with outstanding works from the minimalist movement (Dan Flavin, Carl André); geometric abstraction (Jesús Soto, Elena Asins); land art (Richard Long); Arte Povera (Mario Merz, Giuseppe Penone); and other artists who have appeared in the conceptual context (Esther Ferrer, Richard Tuttle). From the decade of 1980 there are works by artists such as Ana Mendieta, Sigmar Polke or Mike Kelley, and from 1990 the Collection takes us closer to the work of creators who work in different contexts in Latin American (such as Francis Alÿs, Guillermo Kuitka, Melanie Smith or Rivane Neuschwander), North America (Allan Sekula or Carolee Schneemann) and Europe (Juan Muñoz, Helena Almeida, Thomas Hirschhorn or Tobias Rehberger).
The exhibition runs from 9 October 2014 until 1 February 2015.
