rivane neuenschwander in 'the politics of place: latin american photography, past at present' at phoenix art museum

4 August 2012
Rivane Neuenschwander is featured in 'The Politics of Place: Latin American Photography, Past & Present' at Phoenix Art Museum.

Throughout the 20th century and into the 21st, artists from Latin America have embraced photography as a means of capturing their surroundings, documenting episodes of social injustice and political upheaval, and constructing images of national identity. This exhibition features photographs and one video work that evoke a potent sense of place, some in a literal sense and others metaphorically. Drawn primarily from Arizona collections, the selected photographs reflect distinctly national realities, cultural idiosyncrasies, and subtle political undertones.

The exhibition runs in the Orme Lewis Gallery from 4 August until 2 December 2012.
