Brazilian artist Rivane Neuenschwander's installation explores childhood fears, in a display of vibrant handmade capes that combines elements of drawing, textiles, design, performance and writing. In workshops developed at Escola do Olhar and at EAV / Parque Lage, children from various neighborhoods in Rio de Janeiro created covers to protect themselves from their fears. Subsequently recreated by the artist Rivane Neuenschwander and fashion designer Guto Carvalhoneto, the new covers now make up the installation presented in MAR.
The Name of Fear first opened at Whitechapel Gallery, London in October 2015.
The exhibition opens on 21 February 2017.
