Gallery artist Tom Friedman features in 'Seismic Shifts: 10 Visionaries in Contemporary Art and Architecture' at the National Academy Museum, New York. The exhibition also features work by Nick Cave, Bill Viola, Thornton Dial, Vik Muniz, Kate Orff, Betye Saar, and others.

'Seismic Shifts' will showcase artists and architects whose work challenges disciplinary boundaries and raises critical social, environmental and political issues and will include painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, mixed media, video, and architectural models created between 2005 and 2012, with a number of new works featured.

Their commitment to cultural investigation, conceptual inventiveness, and a curiosity of materials, as well as a desire to affect social, political, cultural and/or ecological change warrants special recognition.

Featured artists hail from different regions across the U.S. and have many points of international connection and influence. They span gender, disciplinary interests and generations, embodying the rich diversity of perspectives that shape the contemporary art world.

The exhibition runs from 31 January to 5 May 2013.
