In celebration of his co-commissioned site-specific solo project for HOUSE 2014 Festival and Brighton Festival, installed at The Old Reference Library at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery until 25 May 2014, Yinka Shonibare MBE has produced a special limited edition print ‘Pop Immigrants' 2014.
Using a complex and seductive combination of print and collage techniques, the prints explore the impact of immigration on all aspects of British culture and considers notions of territory and place, cultural identity, displacement and refuge. Yinka Shonibare MBE's work makes visible the cultural influences of colonisation and explores the rich complexity of post-colonial cultures. The British Library in Brighton asks us to evaluate our attitudes to immigration and immigrants.
