Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the museum will organise a major exhibition of contemporary art, focusing on the creation of African artists, born and living on the continent or elsewhere. The focus is particularly on artists who engage with the plurality of aesthetic and social experiences present in different regions of the African continent. The exhibition, which will open on the 25 May 2015 (International Africa Day), will feature more than 100 works of about 20 artists from countries such as Benin, Nigeria, South Africa, Senegal, Angola, Gana, etc. and will occupy two floors of the museum, with a total exhibition area of 3,000 square meters.
The guest artists are representatives of the diversity of artistic expressions that cross along the continent: painting, sculpture, video, installation, photography, collage, etc. The objective is to present the public with a number of proposals, reflections and languages.
The exhibition runs from 29 May until 30 August 2015.
