This body of work continues Gonzales' interrogation into American politics, culture and history using a highly expressive method of crosshatching. The artist developed this technique after creating drawings and etchings that used black lines to create light and shadow. These paintings depict seemingly disparate scenes, but shown together they have a strong collaborative narrative of contemporary American cultural fatigue.
