Kehinde Wiley 'Ship of Fools' acquired by Royal Museums Greenwich

Stephen Friedman Gallery is thrilled to announce that the major painting ‘Ship of Fools' by Kehinde Wiley has been acquired by the Royal Museums Greenwich to be housed in their permanent collection. This marks the first European institutional acquisition of work by the artist, and was purchased with financial support from the ArtFund, UK. The painting shall go on immediate display at the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich.
Kehinde Wiley 'The World Stage: Jamaica'
Stephen Friedman Gallery presents a film depicting the research process behind ‘The World Stage: Jamaica'. The camera follows the artist on his trips to London, visiting the National Portrait Gallery, Dulwich Picture Gallery and Brixton Market. It then follows him Jamaica to underground dance halls, Negril beach and downtown Kingston as he searches for the models for his paintings.
