The works trace the influence exerted by Michelangelo. In the Florentine headquarters the collected works range from the beginning of the last century to the 1970s, while the Gardens are home to contemporary artists, including gallery artist Kendell Geers.
Kendell Geers' work ‘Relic 2' 2002 was made in likeness of Michelangelo's most famous sculpture ‘David'. Geers however made his replica from polystyrene, alluding to the colour of the original material, and wrapped in yards of red and white tape.
The artists on show at the Galleria Civica di Modena: Aurelio Amendola, Michelangelo Antonioni, Gabriele Basilico, Jan Fabre, Kendell Geers, Yves Klein, Robert
Mapplethorpe, Ico Parisi and Thomas Struth.
The exhibition runs from 20 June to 19 October 2014.
