Thomas Hirschhorn in 'True Story' at Proyectos Monclova, Mexico City, Mexico

Swiss artist Thomas Hirschhorn has two recent large-scale collage works included in group show 'True Story' at Proyectos Monclova in Mexico City.

Expanding its program over the years since it opened in 2005, Proyectos Monclova gallery has evolved into one of the most important forums for contemporary art in Mexico, emphasising the dialogue between local and international artists from different generations. In 2012 the gallery moved to a newly designed location in Colonia Roma, which offers 2 exhibition spaces and a fully equipped video room for large-scale cinematographic projections thus offering their artists architectonic diversity and a platform of various formats.

This exhibition will include Hirschhorn's 'Easy-Collage' and 'Collage-Truth'. Using collage as a form of interpretation and critique, the artist demonstrates the power of this humble process as a means to blend contradictory imagery, posing important questions about aesthetic value, moral responsibility, political agency, consumerism, and voyerism. These large scale collages underpin the transformative capacity of art to absorb the excess of information in daily life and to offer alternative models for thinking and being.

The exhibition runs from 19 November 2015 until 16 January 2016.
