Tonico Lemos Auad at Pivô, São Paulo, Brazil

5 April 2015
As part of the 2015 exhibition programme, Pivô in São Paulo presents a solo exhibition of work by the Brazilian-born and London-based artist Tonico Lemos Auad. Titled ‘That which cannot be repaired', this will be the artist's first solo exhibition in a Brazilian institution.

Curated by Kiki Mazzuchelli, this project includes commissioned works specific for Pivô's space, as well as selected works that mobilize central themes in the artist's practice. Auad disregards material value to create lyrical, often transient forms using a wide range of materials, from the ephemeral and everyday to the precious and enduring. Notions of luck, traditional anecdotes, chance, and the supernatural pervade Auad's work. But beyond playfulness his work resonates with a darker underbelly of existence. For Auad an awareness of death and the brevity of life are always near at hand.

The exhibition runs from 5 April until 30 May 2015.
