Yinka Shonibare MBE in 'Luxe: Mode d'Emploi' at Passage de Retz, Paris, France

Yinka Shonibare, MBE is showing his work 'The Crowning' in 'Luxe : mode d'emploi', an exhibition curated by Nicolas Liucci-Goutnikov with Bernard Blistène, at Passage De Retz, Paris.

"THERE IS NOT ONLY MONEY IN LIFE. THERE IS ALSO FUR AND JEWELRY": had it been less long, this Elizabeth Taylor joke would probably have been an excellent title for the exhibition. In this time of financial crisis we should repeat loud and clear that there is no money in life and think rather of luxury. Think of luxury, but not as the transformation of money into furs and jewellery. Think of it as a way of life, a life that is abundant, overflowing - a luxurious life, a lush life. This exhibition is the ‘mode d'emploi' (user manual) for this way of thinking.

The exhibition also features Boris Achour, Cristobal Balenciaga, Guy Bourdin, Matthew Darly, Honore Daumier, Wim Delvoye, Christian Dior, Elmgreen & Dragset, Sylvie Fleury, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Constantin Guys, Georg Herold, Ann Veronica Janssens, Henri Matisse, Helmut Newton, Martin Parr, Irving Penn, Tom Sachs, Raymond Voinquel and Heimo Zobernig

The exhibition runs from 11 July to 16 September 2012.
