Rivane Neuenschwander in 'Circadian Rhythms: Contemporary art and biological time'

'Circadian Rhythms: Contemporary art and biological time' is a group exhibition at The Lewis Glucksman Gallery, University College Cork, curated by Chris Clarke and Fiona Kearney in association with the APC Microbiome Centre, UCC.
The exhibition takes as its starting point the rhythm of life on earth as it flows through 24-hour cycles. Examining themes from the cadence of working life and sleeping patterns to the impact of modern technologies on human biology, the exhibition explores our relationship with circadian rhythms.
The exhibition includes work by Maarten Baas, David Beattie, Suki Chan, Tehching Hsieh, Jitish Kallat, Caoimhe Kilfeather, Barbara Knezevic, Michael Landy, Rivane Neuenschwander and Michael John Whelan. Bringing together Irish and international contemporary art with scientific investigation, the exhibition also provides unique insight into the research undertaken at University College Cork by APC Microbiome Ireland, which investigates how gut microbes interact with human circadian rhythm to impact obesity, metabolic disease and brain function.
