Jaune Quick-to-See Smith at Saint Louis Art Museum
Jaune Quick-to-See Smith’s retrospective exhibition at St Louis Art Museum advances Indigenous perspectives on land, history and art. As one of the most celebrated contemporary Native American artists, this exhibition will span Smith’s career across four decades and various media, highlighting works created in St Louis.
Artworks displayed in the exhibition include State Names Map: Cahokia and Trade Canoe: Cahokia, as well as some of Smith's early pastel and print work. The artist responds to deep histories of cross-cultural trade and Indigenous displacement associated with the St. Louis region.
The exhibition is curated by Alexander Brier Marr, associate curator for Native American art.
