Lisa Brice: Panel Discussion
We are pleased to invite you to an online panel discussion on the work of South African artist Lisa Brice, hosted by Stephen Friedman Gallery, London and Salon 94, New York. This event celebrates the launch of a new monograph on Brice's work. Co-published by the galleries, this richly illustrated catalogue incorporates paintings and works on paper spanning a decade of the artist’s practice.
The event will feature contributing writers Yasmijn Jarram (Curator, KM21, The Hague); Laura Smith (Curator, Whitechapel Gallery, London) and Attillah Springer (Writer) and will be chaired by Jennifer Higgie (Writer and Editor at Large, frieze magazine). The panel will look at how Brice’s work foregrounds the agency of female subjects to challenge misogynistic traditions of figuration, touching on the artist’s recent exhibition at KM21 and her landmark presentation at Tate Britain in 2018.
The event will take place via Zoom on Tuesday 20 April at 5pm BST/ 12pm EDT.
