Yinka Shonibare CBE RA participates in Sharjah Biennial 15: Thinking Historically in the Present

'Sharjah Biennial 15: Thinking Historically in the Present' is centered on ideas of postcolonialism. Conceived by the late Okwui Enwezor and curated by Hoor Al Qasami, Director of Sharjah Art Foundation, the biennial brings together more than 300 works by over 150 artists and collectives.

Tal R & Mamma Andersson: About Hill

Tal R and Mamma Andersson's references include turn-of-the-century Nordic figurative painting, folk art, and local or contemporary vernacular. Direct allusions to art history can be seen in both artists' works and two-person exhibition 'About Hill', explores the context of Nordic painting and the art of Carl Fredrik Hill (1849-1911). For this exhibition both artists have created a series of brand new works, all related to the great Swedish artist.

Presenting rotating exhibitions and viewable storage of the Beth Rudin DeWoody Collection, The Bunker showcases a wide range of contemporary art by both well-known and emerging artists, displayed alongside iconic pieces of furniture and other curiosities. The collection champions emerging, and at times, overlooked artists, especially in the early stages of their careers, and so the Bunker offers insight into a truly unique collection.

'mixed up with others before we even begin' celebrates the historical and cultural processes of creolisation as an age-old mode of world-making. Ged Quinn participates in 'Hospital Rooms' project at Torbay Hospital

Hospital Rooms has partnered with Devon Partnership NHS Trust to create artworks for three inpatient mental health wards at Torbay Hospital. Hospital Rooms is an arts and mental health charity that commissions extraordinary artworks for NHS mental health inpatient units across the UK, believing in the power of art to provide joy and dignity and to stimulate and heal.

Taking the 1990s as its cultural backdrop, ‘Forecast Form: Art in the Caribbean Diaspora, 1990s–Today’ is the first major group exhibition in the United States to envision a new approach to contemporary art in the Caribbean diaspora, foregrounding forms that reveal new modes of thinking about identity and place.

The World Reimagined Charity Auction

'The World Reimagined' is a ground-breaking, national art education project to transform how the Transatlantic Slave Trade is understood and its lasting impact on all of us. A globe created by Yinka Shonibare CBE RA is on view alongside 95 others at Trafalgar Square on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 November. Eighteen of the globes including Shonibare's will be auctioned by Bonhams in support of the charitable project.

Melvin Edwards features in 'Juan Francisco Elso: Por América'

'Juan Francisco Elso: Por América' investigates the brief yet significant career of the late Cuban artist Juan Francisco Elso. Based in Havana, Elso was part of the first generation of artists born and educated in post-revolutionary Cuba, who gained international recognition in the early 1980’s. The exhibition explores crosscurrents between Elso’s art and the creative output of both close colleagues and artists who demonstrate parallel affinities, featuring 45 works by more than 30 artists.

Denzil Forrester is included in 'Dark Light, Realism in the Age of Post truth'

Group exhibition 'Dark Light: Realism in the Age of Post-Truths', curated by Massimiliano Gioni, assembles the work of over one hundred artists and more than two hundred pieces from the Tony and Elham Salamé Collection. Taking its title from a 2017 painting by the American artist Nicole Eisenman held in the collection, the presentation brings together recent acquisitions that question the meanings and functions of figuration in contemporary art.

Jeffrey Gibson: They Come From Fire

An immersive, site-responsive installation by multimedia artist Jeffrey Gibson, 'They Come From Fire' transforms the exterior windows on the facade of the museum’s main building as well as the two-story interior court. This dynamic work celebrates Portland’s Indigenous history, presence and vitality and coincides with a survey of Dakota modernist Oscar Howe, serving as a bridge between the museum’s contemporary and Native American art collections.
