Ana Cláudia Almeida features in 'Carioca Chronicles'
Ana Cláudia Almeida participates in Rio Museum of Art's largest exhibition of 2021, Carioca Chronicles.
Carioca Chronicles showcases nearly 600 works in a variety of media including video, sculpture, installation, photography and painting. The exhibition explores everyday stories; neighborhood relationships; parties; encounters on crowded buses and sidewalks. Behind what is exported to the world, it aims to tell the story of Rio, which beautifies itself and pretends not to see the suburbs.
Amanda Bonan, one of the exhibition's curators, states "We based our thinking on Ailton Krenak's powerful and fundamental quote: 'We must postpone the end of the world to tell one more story.' But what stories would be worth continuing to tell today? Let's talk about this divided city."
Other participating artists include Sônia Gomes, Lucia Laguna, Rosana Paulino, Brígida Baltar, Denilson Baniwa, Alexandre Vogler, Bispo do Rosário, Laerte and Bastardo, Guignard, Di Cavalcanti, Lasar Segall and Mestre Didi.
