Caroline Walker: Mothering
Caroline Walker’s major solo exhibition Mothering travels to Pallant House Gallery, previously on view at The Hepworth Wakefield from May to October 2025.
Celebrated for her luminous brushwork and moving depictions of women’s lives, Walker transforms everyday acts of care into striking scenes. From maternity wards to nurseries, her paintings reveal the tenderness, intensity and resilience of motherhood and the often-unacknowledged work that shapes our society.
Featuring highlights from the past five years alongside new works, this exhibition brings together Walker’s lively pencil sketches, delicate ink studies, intimate panels and large-scale canvases. Her use of light, colour and scale creates works that feel both universal and deeply personal.
Mothering is organised by The Hepworth Wakefield in collaboration with Pallant House Gallery. Shown within the unique setting of the historic townhouse, this is a rare chance to experience Walker’s work in an environment that resonates with her themes of home, family and care.
The exhibition is accompanied by an illustrated monograph of the same title, published by Lund Humphries in September 2025.
