Yinka Shonibare MBE and David Shrigley participate in the 250th Summer Exhibition

Grayson Perry RA curates the 250th Summer Exhibition for the annual celebration of "art made now".
Yinka Shonibare's 'Young Academician', 2018, is installed in the Sackler Wing of Galleries. The work shows a leaning figure balancing on one leg whilst an outstretched arm holds a pile of books stacked high and teetering precariously. In the new Ronald and Rita McAulay Gallery, David Shrigley has new "tabloid news" works on paper installed in the "room of humour". As Grayson Perry said, "the first person I asked when I was thinking of putting together a humorous exhibition was of course David Shrigley".
