David Shrigley appointed as Guest Director of Brighton Festival 2018

Brighton, UK

Brighton Festival 2018 Guest Director David Shrigley brings his large-scale installation 'Life Model II', alongside a selection of his animated films, to Fabrica Gallery in Brighton. Life Model II upends our preconceptions about the traditional 'life drawing' class by replacing the live model with a sculptural one. Visitors are invited to sit, observe, and draw the model. The drawings are then pinned to the surrounding gallery walls, becoming part of the exhibition.

Andrew Comben, Chief Executive of Brighton Festival says: "Like Brighton Festival, David Shrigley's work is for everyone. Both powerful and funny, his work manages to navigate ‘high' and ‘low' art and speak to an incredibly wide audience."

The festival will also feature world and UK premieres from a wide range of international, national and local artists and companies.
