Tonico Lemos Auad
Cample Line presents a solo exhibition of new works by Brazilian artist Tonico Lemos Auad. Auad engages with the architectural features of the gallery spaces and builds on his recent use of wood reclaimed from buildings or storm-damaged forests in combination with textiles and other materials such as bronze.
Born in Belém, Brazil, Tonico Lemos Auad explores physical manifestations of belief, specifically looking at the personal or cultural significance afforded objects in everyday life. Often encompassing notions of architecture and landscape, Auad’s unique way of working subverts traditional techniques associated with craft such as embroidery, woodcarving and stonemasonry.
