This catalogue was published to accompany the solo exhibition, 'Hulda Guzmán: Miracle Fruits' at Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP), São Paulo, Brazil (11 April – 24 August 2025).
This is the first monographic book dedicated to Guzmán's work, bringing together previously unpublished texts by Amanda Carneiro, Elena Ketelsen González, Sara Hermann and Tobias Ostrander that explore the artist's unique blend of references to the history of painting and architecture, including dialogues with minimalism in ancient Chinese painting, Japanese ukiyo-e, impressionism and post-impressionism, surrealism and magical realism, Mexican muralism, and votive offerings.
This richly illustrated catalogue features 84 artworks, including seven new works which featured in Guzmán's solo exhibition at MASP, São Paulo. Encompassing landscape painting, architecture, inner demons; and studio scenes with self-portraits and everyday characters, this publication immerses the reader in Guzmán’s artistic production, and in the critical discussions surrounding the Caribbean’s tropical landscape and ecology at large.
