Jonathan Baldock features in 'Talisman'
Jonathan Baldock features in the group show Talisman, a group exhibition of LGBTQIA+ artists curated by Gemma Rolls-Bentley and E-J Scott. The exhibition considers the obejcts, people and symbols we turn to in order to keep us safe. Since antiquity, people have turned to ritual and talismanic objects as a means of protection against unseen forces and existential threats. In this spirit, Talisman invites artists from across the UK to channel their creative energies into a space of safeguarding, resistance, collective sanctuary and queer spirituality.
On display is Baldock's Imagination creates reality (2024), a hanging felt, thread and hessian work featuring three leafless, pastel trees. Also on display are works by Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley, Jesse Darling, Eva Dixon, Lubaina Himid, amongst others, in addition to objects from the Museum of Transology.
