Hear Jonathan Baldock in conversation with writer Sacha Coward at JUPITER RISING X EAF25 festival on Saturday 16 August.

Baldock’s 2025 commission for Jupiter Artland takes the title WYRD, an Old Norse word that not only means strange or different, but signals an exceptional otherness that is tied to destiny, fate and transformation. 

Coward is the author of Queer as Folklore, a bestselling investigation of the queer history of mythic and folkloric characters, old and new. Their conversation will set the theme for the evening’s programme, examining the wyrd in relation to queer lives, loves, histories and folklore, and reflect on how we might seek symbolism and solace through wyrd, fey and magical creatures.

‘WYRD’ is on view at Jupiter Artland's Ballroom Gallery until 28 September. The exhibition explores our relationship to animals, nature and our intrinsic interconnectedness to the planet with hope, humour and vulnerability.
