British-Nigerian artist Yinka Shonibare’s first major solo exhibition on the African continent, Safiotra [Hybridités/Hybridities] at Foundation H, Madagascar.
The sixth edition of ‘A Summer in Le Havre’ features several temporary large-scale art installations and a curated programme of events. Highlights include a ‘half-man, half-woman being’ by Japanese sculptor Izumi Kato, set in the tree-lined square of Saint-Vincent church. Also on view is ‘Apparitions’ by German artist Stephan Balkenhol, a permanent installation of figures displayed on the facades of the city’s Perret Buildings.
‘Wind Sculpture in Bronze I’ by Yinka Shonibare CBE RA is the third permanent sculpture presented to Royal Djurgården by Princess Estelle, Duchess of Östergötland's cultural foundation. The two metre sculpture, rendered in steel and fibreglass, captures the shifting movement of wind passing through Shonibare's signature Dutch wax batik fabric on a dramatic scale.

'Material (SG) II', by Yinka Shonibare CBE, which forms part of the artist’s 'Wind Sculpture' series, will be unveiled in 2021 at the outdoor plaza at the new office building, 360 Rosemary. Jim Hodges' new mirrored-glass artwork is now on view above the busiest entrance at Grand Central Station. Located near the 42 Street entrance, on the landing and mezzanine levels of the stairs and escalator that connect Grand Central Terminal with the subway station, the expansive work is comprised of over 5,000 pieces of glass in more than 70 different colours.
Claire Barclay has been commissioned by Tideway, London to create artworks for the new public realm site at Putney. In response to the heritage theme ‘Recreation to Industry: Society in Transition', Barclay has developed a series of three works: three bronze oars to be incorporated into the foreshore balustrade in the form of lengths of handrail; text integrated within the inlaid University Boat Race (UBR) marker line in the form of raised cast lettering; and a graphic pattern waterjet cut into the granite walling of the foreshore kiosk.

In response to the current crisis, Barts Health NHS Trust is upgrading existing Staff Rooms and creating new areas in which clinical staff can find rest and respite. Aligning with these developments, charitably funded initiative #100NHSRooms was launched to support the wellbeing of both patients and hospital employees by bringing new artworks to 100 rooms across Barts Health, including St Bartholomew’s, Royal London Hospital, Whipps Cross, Mile End and Newham Hospital.
